The Road Home Symbolism: The Barrette
Before the departure of the teacher, he gave her a barrette as a gift. The barrette portrayed warm colors of red, pink and black. It brought emotions of hope, happiness and love. When he did leave she ended up loosing the barrette and trying desperately to find it. In the end she finds it back at home. It's a reminder that he is still gone when she finds it and puts it back in her hair. When she expects him back she waits all day in the storm for him to return. She ends up sick and in bed. He ends up coming to find her at her home. Both the barrette and the teacher end up at her home. Meaning sometimes you don't always have to go find something when it may just end up coming back to you. Everything that is meant to be will fall into place.
Excellent post! I like that you analyze the symbol, and provide a clip to support your analysis. Mimi
